Atomizers normally lose their vapour producing power after prolonged use. Sometimes, the reduction in vapour production can also be a result of a poor quality wick that does not transfer the heat effectively. This can also cause the atomiser to heat up at unbearable temperatures and make vaping an uncomfortable process. You can easily fix it by re-wicking the tank atomizer.
To start the process you will need a few basic items like sharp wire clippers, a multi purpose screwdriver, a new wick and a small screwdriver specially used by jewellers.
The process is fairly simple and can be done in a matter of minutes. Start by bending the tip of the jeweller's screwdriver to form a hook roughly the size of 2 mm to 3 mm. Gently place the screwdriver by the side of the spike plate flats and remove it by carefully pulling the screwdriver upwards. You should now clean the spike plate with tweezers and ensure that all the remaining bits of the wick are removed.
To clean the atomizer, dry burn it for a few seconds and gently tap the surface to remove any remaining bits of the wick. Repeat this process till the atomiser is clean. Insert the new wick through the spike plate and trim the edge carefully. Ensure that you leave about 7 mm of the fibreglass exposed. To do this, gently pull out the wires and separate the cotton and fibreglass in the wick and trim off the cotton.
Pull the wick back inside through the spike plate and prime it carefully. Insert the spike plate in the atomiser and ensure that it stays in place. Push the spike plate back into place with the screwdriver. To make sure that the device is working properly, suck the liquid through the atomizer a few times without burning it. Your re-wicked electronic cigarette is now ready to use.
